What would your life be like without music?
Going to start off with this question today. So, music has been in my blood since I can remember. The reason I say that is because I started playing music, specifically the drums at age 6. Yes, professionally in my parents basement. 😂 It grew to an love for anything related to teenage angst and the music that came with it. Played in a couple high school bands with friends. I was on top of the world. Music, like most I assume just helps people connect and it’s powerful. All walks of life come together for that moment in time and sing every word of every song. I have been in a couple concerts where I get goosebumps. For some of my favorite bands, when a new album or single is about to be released I’m that person who sets a reminder on there phone for the date and time. I also appreciate the lyrics, so I still buy the records, currently I have transitioned into vinyl records just like my old parents…god I’m turning into them. 😂😂
Anyway, when I buy the record I sit down and try to to listen to it front to back and read the lyrics to it to understand and appreciate the songwriting, I do that because I can still remember the times me and friends were trying to write a song in my parents basement . We had been playing the same beat, guitar rhythm for about an hour. We finally have the lyrics down, we upstairs and tell my dad. First words out of his mouth, “can I play a different beat?” 🥹😂 Fair play dad. Good thing my dad had no filter, that song would have sold -500 copies, people would have bought it and then burned it was so bad. 😂
Back at it, music has made me who I am and though I never became that professional musician it’s ok. My love for music will never leave. Until next time, TRM.
