Terrible Role Models

My most epic baking or cooking fail. Well, there has been a lot, but I can window it down to one. I was smoking a pork shoulder on the smoker like have done several times before. But, this day in particular was just not going right. If my memory serves me right, it was quite windy out and I have a propane smoker, so guess what happens the flame kept getting blown out. My smoker is a vertical smoker with the igniter or flame on the bottom. So, I finally got the temperature control around 225 degrees and I place the pork shoulder in the smoker, and I go inside just to start cleaning to stay ahead of everything maybe 15 minutes go bye and I look out the window and I do not see any smoke billowing out. So, I go outside to investigate. I open up the smoker, I noticed the flame was out, without even thinking (I should have) I push down on the igniter and bam all the propane had built up and this wall of flame just exploded out. Somehow, my eyes closed which I’m thankful for. However, my hair on arms, eyebrows, and head were not so lucky. Again, luckily it was like having a bad sunburn just red all over. I didn’t know what to t do so I went inside afraid to look in the mirror. I went to find the wife and asked, “How bad is it” she is like what the fuck happened? 😳😂 That was a bad day…after that I rarely use the vertical smoker, I just go get BBQ from the professionals. 😂 Until next time, TRM.
